Day Two - Almost all is well...

I simply had to write while I was here, because I am in heaven in form of a restaurant! *mmmmmm* is all I can say right now. My chai latte was all warm and fluffy like clouds enveloping my tongue and my creamy corn soup was exactly that - CREAMY, if I could have laid on it and floated I would have.... Ok ok maybe that was going a bit far but needless to say I have just consumed a delicious meal and had great service!

So you say, stop babbling and tell me where, where do I go for such a VEGAN meal?? Alright, I'll tell you. The Loving Hut @ Mount Gravatt is AMAZING!

I come here often, but this time, it was more than just for the delicious soy chai lattes that Alex whips up. Today I needed to console myself! As mentioned yesterday I am dedicated to sticking with this 30 day challenge and really seeing where it can take me on lots of levels, so making sure nothing non-vegan passes my lips is a definite IMPORTANT!!!

Now I must say, I am usually so organized, planning snacks and meals and where I will be at what time of day so I know I won't go hungry (and yes that was before I became vegan yesterday *lol* - heaven help my friends), but this morning somehow time slipped away and I rushed out leaving my lunch bag behind! :(

After taking my lunch time meeting I was starving and decided there must be a product in all the food I carry for my job that was vegan, so I asked one of the other girls there to read over the ingredients of some rice snacks to check. After them being declared free of all animal products, I proceeded to much down about 20g of the little biscuits (you can see where this is heading right??) when I had finished packing up I sat to nibble the rest and decided to look at what else was in there while I ate...

Do I have to go on here? I mean really how do you get off track on DAY TWO? *blush* Well it seems needless to say now, but check all packets YOURSELF people! The ingredients list did appear to be free of any recognizable names of animal products or by products, but a few lines lower was a little bold section stating quite clearly CONTAINS MILK (amongst other things). I have read and re-read the ingredients list and I have no idea which of the strange names and numbers are a milk product but it's hidden in their somewhere.

Now I think about it -today's lesson is two fold! (Lucky I love learning ;) 1. Check packets yourself 2. Stay with the unprocessed foods where it is easy to see exactly what you are eating... Which all in all is a much better solution - don't you think?

A lesson learnt in the life of a new vegan... Now I am off on a shopping mission to find some Vegan Cheese so I can try out a delicious pizza for dinner! Will let you know how it goes!
